Comic Book Stolen From Nic Cage Found, Police Confirm

A rare 1938 comic book featuring the debut of Superman resurfaced last week and police confirm it is the same one stolen from Nicolas Cage more than a decade ago, RadarOnline.com has learned.

Detective Donald Hrycyk, head of the LAPD's two-person Art Theft Detail told the Ventura County Star an investigation into how the comic was stolen and found is underway.


The comic book, widely considered to be the most important one ever published, was one of a partial collection of vintage comic books stolen from Cage's home in 2000, Hrycyk said.


It remained missing for more than 10 years until last month when a man found it in a San Fernando Valley storage locker - the man bought the locker's contents through auction.


In March 2010, a copy of the 1938 comic sold from $1.5 million.
